Exhibition at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art, Wilmington. August 2001
Installation view with 16 sheets of transparency film (9 x 13 inches each) and 4 x-ray illuminators, 41 x 67 inches total, 2 silver prints on gator foam, 16 x 20 inches each, and a portion of the wall with 52 silver pinhole prints by the participants, 8 x 10 inches each.

Each of the color portraits was displayed in a grid using four x-ray illuminators as lightboxes. Exhibiting the images in this manner expanded their meaning by referring to the diagnostic method used to discover cancer. These images suggest another way of looking at, and thinking about the medical self-images upon which this community depends. The effect of this method of presentation on the subjects and viewers alike was profound, challenging the negative associations of medical imaging.
